Test Out

Test Out exams are a method by which students may gain additional or required credit. Students who wish to earn credit by testing out demonstrate through this process that they have achieved mastery of course content by successfully completing written exams and additionally in some cases, portfolios and oral examinations.

In order to test out the form must be received by the counselor by Monday, January 24, 2011

Guidelines for Testing Out
  • Students may test out of up to 2 semester classes during each test out session
  • Students may test out of classes in which they: believe they can demonstrate mastery of the content without actually enrolling in the course, earned a failing grade, or lost partial credit due to poor attendance. In order to earn high school algebra or geometry credit, middle school students must successfully test out of the entire year-long course.
  • Students must receive a minimum score of 78% on the exam to earn credit
  • The test out session will utilize ACT security standards. Picture ID will be required for admittance to the testing sessions. No one will be admitted late. No cell phones, I pods, books, book bags, or other personal items will be permitted in the testing area. Students will be assigned seats following the ACT guidelines. No conversation of any kind will be allowed. Failure to follow these procedures will result in forfeiture of the opportunity to test out and receive credit.
  • Middle school students test at the high school they will attend
  • Dearborn Magnet High School and Henry Ford Early College students will test at Dearborn High
  • Students may utilize the test out to earn full credit if they have had credit reduced due to poor attendance if the class did not have a comprehensive final exam.
