“A” Day

 

 

1)        Intramural Boy’s Swimming this Wed (12/21) from 3-4pm.  See Mr. Wetmore to sign up.

 

2)       Girls Swimming @ Bryant, December 21st at 3:30pm, January 11th @ Smith, City Meet @

          Unis, January 18th.

 

3)       Winter Concert will be today at 2:00pm.  Everyone welcome to attend!

 

4)       Boys Basketball @ 3:30pm: Bryant at Woodworth today, Unis at Woodworth on 12/22,

          Woodworth at Salina on 1/10/17, Lowrey at Woodworth on 1/12/17, Stout at

          Woodworth on 1/17/17, Woodworth at Bryant on 1/19/17

 

5)       2016-2017 Academic Games Team Tournament Dates: 12/21, 1/18, 1/24, 1/26

 

6)       Next Late Start is Wednesday, December 21st.  The bell rings at 8:50am.

         

7)       This week all A-2 classrooms will compete in a door decorating contest with a “Winter

          Wonderland” theme.  Judging for the best decorated door will be done on Wednesday,

           Dec. 21st. The A-2 with the best decorated door will win hot chocolate the following week.

 

8)       Woodworth PTA will be sponsoring Santa’s Shop, December 20, 21 & 22 from

          11:00 – 1:30pm for students to purchase holiday gifts.  Also, a pizza sale will be held

          after school on Friday, Dec. 23rd outside the main office.

 

9)       Attention 8th grade ALGEBRA 1 students that intend to apply to the DCMST program

          for next year:

  1. Application packets are now available on the DCMST website, or you can pick

                    up a hard copy from Ms. Gronau in the counseling office.

  1. After you have actually sent your application electronically, please sign up

                    with your Algebra 1 teacher so that we are aware of who is applying.

          3:       IMPORTANT DATES:

                    Application Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017

                    If you have any questions, please see Ms. Gronau in the counseling office.

 

10)     Winter Spirit Week!

          Student Council is looking forward to seeing everyone’s school spirit through

          participation!

          Tropical Tuesday: Come in tropical island attire.

          Wild Sweater Wednesday: Come to school wearing your ugly holiday sweater.

          Throwback Thursday: Come to school wearing the most retro & old fashioned style

          clothing from any generation.

          Freaky Friday: Come to school earing clothing that does not match or wear funny PJ’s.

          Please remember to dress appropriately for school following the school dress code.

 

         

11)     The Washington DC trip is now open to 7th graders!  7th Grade students must stop

          by and see Mrs. Dakroub in room 114 for a permission slip before December 23rd.

          Don’t miss out on the fun!

 

12)     Hey Students!  Save your money for our Penny Wars Competition between the 6th, 7th,

          and 8th grades during lunch from December 19th – December 22nd.  The object is to

          get as many points as possible during the “war”.  Pennies are Positive Points for your

          grade.  Nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills are Negative Points so you can put

          These coins into the other grades collection tin to subtract from their points!  The grade

          level with the most points will get a HAT DAY reward after the new year.  Money raised

          during the Penny Wars Competition will be donated to PBIS for student rewards.

 

13)     The 6th grade students will be going on a field trip Friday, Dec. 23rd to The Henry    Ford/IMAX.  Students not attending the field trip are required to come to school that day.

 

14)     Winter Break is 12/24/16 thru 1/8/17.  Students return to school on Monday, 1/9/17.

 

15)     Students: If you are at school before the 7:50am bell rings, you must either go directly

          to the cafeteria and wait where it is warm, or you wait outside.  Door #9 will be open

          for you to get into the cafeteria.  Students are not allowed to wander the halls.

 

16)     The School Store will be open every Tuesday for all students. T-shirts are only $5 in either

          grey, black, or yellow.  School store items: t-shirts, pencils, erasers, granola bars, fruit

          strips, water bottles, rulers, and folders.  Student can see Mrs. Stevens in Room 212

          during A-2 to purchase a t-shirt on days when the store is not open.

 

17)     Things for students to remember:

          * Keep your planners open to your Hornet Pride Card during class and earn those points!

          * The December reward is a Movie Day during the week 12/19 – 12/23.

          * The January reward is TBD

          * The February reward is Hot Chocolate & Donuts before school

          * The March reward is Teachers vs Students Basketball
