Lockdown Drill 2/17/2022

February 10, 2022

Greetings Woodworth Community,

The safety of our students is always a high priority for all of us here at Woodworth.   One of the best ways that we can ensure a safe school environment is to practice our emergency procedures.  As required by state law, our school must conduct several practice fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills throughout the school year.

I’m sending this letter to all parents to inform you that our school will be conducting a lockdown drill on February 17th, 2022. We will not always be able to tell parents when we are conducting a drill as state law requires us to perform at least one “unannounced” drill in order to practice all aspects of our emergency procedures.

This time, we are sharing the information in advance so parents will not be alarmed if they hear about the drill from their child in a text message during the day or when they come home from school.  We do encourage you to talk to your child about the drill and reassure them that this is being done to help keep them safe and they shouldn’t be scared or stressed about practicing these emergency procedures.

We hope there will never be a time when we must face an actual emergency. However, by practicing  fire, severe weather, and lockdown drills now we can prepare our students and staff to remain calm and take proper actions if there ever was an actual emergency.

If you have any questions or concerns please call our office at 313-827-7101.  Woodworth is a great school, supported by a great community, and I look forward to all of the future success of our students.

Regards,

Nicole Rabac
