At 10:10am, Woodworth Middle School participated in a moment of silence to honor those who died and those who suffered on September 11, 2001.
Time has a way of fading the memory of what occurred that day but we must never allow time to let us forget those who died on that day. September 11, now known as Patriot Day, has become a day to remember and honor the victims of these terrible attacks and the heroes who lost their life trying to rescue their fellow citizens.
Following the days of September 11 our country showed an incredible resilience and demonstrated the true American spirit. Due to this national outpouring of good will, September 11 has also become a day of putting aside one’s needs to help fellow Americans. The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which establishes September 11 as an annually recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance, was put into place to help encourage and facilitate community service across the country.
