Reminders for Eighth Graders
- The school year is quickly coming to a close. Here are some important reminders for 8th graders.
Farewell Assembly
- The assembly will be held the last day of school. The Farewell Assembly will begin at 9:30 am and dismiss at approximately 11:00. The assembly will be held in Gyms A & B. Given the weather, it will probably be very warm in the gyms. The gyms will not be open for seating until 9:15. Students must leave immediately following the assembly.
- This is NOT A GRADUATION – it is an farewell assembly. Each 8th grade student will have his/her name called.
- Guidelines for Student Dress at the Farewell Assembly:
- Dress shirts with ties and dress pants (or khakis) are appropriate for young men. Jackets may be worn if families so choose.
- Girls should select dresses that my be worn many times and for varied, non-formal occasions. No strapless or off the shoulder dresses will be permitted. If you could not wear the dress to school because it violated the dress code, DO NOT wear it to the assembly. There is no need to spend an excessive amount of money on a fancy dress for this occasion.
- Blue jeans or shorts are not appropriate and may not be worn.
- If you are not sure if what you want to wear is appropriate, either see Mr. Patterson or wear another outfit.
- Additional Reminders:
- NO LIMOUSINES will be permitted at Woodworth during the school year. This includes the Farewell Assembly.
- Cameras (but not camera phones) are allowed on the last day of school and at the Farewell Assembly only.
- The last three days of school are “Bag Free” days. No backpacks, bags, or purses are allowed. Locker cleanout will be on Tuesday, June 7th. Students will not use lockers on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
- The Cedar Point trip is on Wednesday, June 8th.
- Students are responsible to follow the Student Code of Conduct.
- The PTA and Mr. Patterson will provide some bagels and juice on June 10th for the eighth graders.
- Completing 8th grade is a significant but small accomplishment toward the many successes that await you. Expensive dresses and limousines may come with proms and graduating High School and College.
