Greetings,
We come to the close of a truly difficult week that saw devastating damage and loss of property for so many of our neighbors throughout the district. We offer our most sincere thoughts of comfort and recovery to all those affected by last week’s storms. We also want to acknowledge and thank the dozens of hard working staff members in the Dearborn Public Schools who have demonstrated herculean efforts to restore our schools to safe operating conditions. Our sincere thanks and appreciation for all they have done and continue to do.
A reminder that all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Friday, July 2, 2021 in commemoration of the 4th of July holiday. Students and staff will return to school on Monday, July 5.
There are, however, a few schools that will remain closed due to electrical or other issues related to the flooding.
Here is the plan for those schools:
Fordson High School will continue to provide synchronous learning for all students Monday, July 5th through Thursday, July 8th. Teachers will be sending a zoom link to their students and will provide remote learning. Students start their day at 8:00.
Food distribution for Thursday, July 8th at Fordson High School is canceled. Families can pick up food at either Dearborn HS or Edsel Ford HS.
Salina Intermediate will remain closed on Monday, July 5th and Tuesday July 6th.
Salina Intermediate will distribute food on Thursday, July 8th on the usual schedule 12:30-1:30
Salina Elementary: DTE continues to work on resolving power issues that have affected the neighborhood around Salina Elementary. We have been in contact with DTE and are hopeful the issues will be corrected over the weekend. Therefore a decision will be made by 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 4th regarding whether the school will be open or closed. The administration at Salina Elementary will contact parents and staff directly on Sunday, July 4th to provide an update on the status of the school for Monday.
All other Dearborn Public Schools will be open on Monday, July 5th. Staff should report at their usual time.
Hopefully the weather will provide us with a dry holiday weekend. We wish everyone a safe and restful 4th of July!
